LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – We first told you about a sexual assault inside of Eastern High School back in April.
The victim’s family filed a “notice of intent” two months ago threatening a lawsuit.
This story continues to develop.
As of now there are two open cases pending against the Lansing School District and both claim Title IX violations.
We told you about the first lawsuit last month.
That suit stems from a 2014 rape case that put 19-year-old Edward Jackson behind bars.
The victim says the school district and school officials failed to create a safe educational environment for her after her rape and she was not allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities.
This most recent case and separate case filed this week claims that school officials had a deliberately indifferent response to a second student’s assault and their failure to promptly respond and appropriately investigate led to harassment, nurtured a hostile environment and effectively denied her access to educational opportunities.
